I somehow got biscuits on the encephalon recently. While thinking most making big, fluffy, buttery biscuits, too therefore many happy memories came to mind. My woman raise made a really skillful biscuit, equally did her woman raise too in all likelihood her woman raise too. I ever made pretty skillful biscuits but was a Bisquick kinda girl. Some foods, similar biscuits, select memories to heed that are too therefore clear you lot tin almost recollect every single detail. My mom ever made biscuits on Christmas, equally I practise at nowadays too. She was a skillful laid upwards too taught me to endure confident inwards the kitchen. Mom has been gone since I was 32 so this weekend I volition recollect her equally I ofttimes do, too miss her.
There was closed to other adult woman that came into my life at a fourth dimension when I genuinely needed her. This memory still makes me experience too therefore especial that I cannot set into words how grateful I was to endure invited to breakfast at Aunt Teeny’s. Christine (or Aunt Teeny) was my husbands’ Aunt but I chop-chop adopted her equally my ain when nosotros outset moved inside a few miles of her dwelling nigh Loganville, Georgia. My woman raise had but passed away, too my begetter was gone too. Christine too her husband Wayne lived dorsum inwards the woods inwards a log cabin built inwards the 1800’s. Uncle Wayne was a retired province lawyer too loved all God’s creatures from the lowliest põrnikas to all the scruffy dogs they had inwards the yard. Wayne too Teeny embraced me too our children too gave us love during a most hard fourth dimension for me.
My married adult man was commuting to function inwards Atlanta, our youngest started kindergarten too our boy started outset grade. For the outset fourth dimension inwards my life I wasn’t working too wasn’t certain what to practise amongst myself. Every Fri morn Aunt Teeny would brand a wonderful breakfast amongst sausage, bacon, eggs too homemade biscuits squished together inwards a cast Fe skillet. Uncle Wayne, Aunt Teeny too their oldest son Clyde invited me to endure business office of their weekly menage unit of measurement reckon too eat. We drank coffee, talked, laughed, ate biscuits too got to know each other. They told me quondam menage unit of measurement stories, too I shared mine. All the acre they helped me heal from losing both my parents inside 2 years of each other.

Doesn’t it brand you lot wonder why life has to brand it such a hurry? Those few months of Fri breakfasts genuinely were the best of times. And those biscuits were groovy too. In retentiveness of my favorite biscuit maker Christine who helped me heal, too my Mom who taught me to bake, let’s select dorsum Fri breakfasts that terminal until tiffin too swallow biscuits!
OK. Here’s the deal. I couldn’t brand Bisquick biscuits too postal service them hither too therefore I laid out to notice a great, homemade biscuit recipe. I made ane batch too they were but OK. Then I wondered if you lot tin role heavy cream inwards a biscuit recipe because I had closed to leftover from pie making. I works life this recipe on the King Arthur Flour website too realized it was precisely what I was looking for. The before recipe used shortening too honestly I intend it made the biscuits dense. These were incredibly lite too what tin I say, they’re all gone. Don’t endure afraid of using heavy cream. It replaces all the other fatty similar butter too shortening. Even buttermilk has a skillful fleck of fatty too.
Maybe your Mom (or you) request homemade biscuits too a loving cup of java amongst those she loves. This recipe won’t disappoint!
I used Gold Medal unbleached breadstuff flour (don’t tell King Arthur whoever he is), cornstarch, heavy cream, salt, sugar, baking pulverization (not pictured) too a piffling fleck of butter!
Whisk together the flour, cornstarch, salt, baking pulverization too sugar. Stir inwards the heavy cream.
Turn out the dough on a lightly floured function surface.
Gently pat the dough into an 8 inch circular most 3/4 inch thick. Use a 2 1/4 inch biscuit cutter too cutting the dough into rounds.
Place the biscuits on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush amongst butter if desired. This is the actually interesting part, set the pan of unbaked biscuits inwards the freezer for thirty minutes. Apparently this improves the biscuits’ texture too rise. Who knew?
But oh my gosh did it work! Look at these puppies. Baked inwards a preheated 425 grade oven for most xx minutes until golden brown.
Jam, jelly, gravy, or honey, it doesn’t matter. It’s all good.
Serve immediately. Duhhhh! Not a problem.
