Ingredients


For the cakes:



  • 2
    cups
    unbleached all-purpose flour


  • 1/2
    cup
    Dutch-processed cocoa powder


  • 1
    teaspoon
    baking soda


  • 1/2
    teaspoon
    salt


  • 1
    cup
    light brownish sugar, packed


  • 8
    tablespoons
    unsalted butter, room temperature


  • 1
    large
    egg, room temperature


  • 1
    teaspoon
    vanilla


  • 1
    cup
    buttermilk


  • 1/4
    teaspoon
    instant espresso powder/granules




For the filling:



  • 8
    tablespoons
    unsalted butter, room temperature


  • 1
    cup
    powdered sugar


  • 1 1/2
    teaspoons
    pure vanilla extract


  • dash
    salt


  • 2
    (scant) cups
    Marshmallow Fluff





Instructions


To brand the cakes:



  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Line two baking sheets alongside parchment newspaper together with laid aside.




  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda together with salt.  Set aside.




  3. In a large mixing bowl, using an electrical mixer, combine the brownish saccharide together with butter together with shell until lite together with fluffy.  Add the egg together with mix only until incorporated.  With the mixer on low, add together the vanilla together with blend until incorporated.  Scrape the bottom together with sides of the mixing bowl alongside a safe spatula together with blend some other 20-30 seconds.  




  4. In a two loving cup measure, mix together the buttermilk together with espresso powder. 




  5.
